The gear was presented today in ‘Russia – my history’ Park, where the International Press Center is located. Beautiful turquoise apparel will be worn by our athletes when they will be contending for the medals of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games.

The kit includes a jacket, several pairs of pants, a fleece jacket, a t-shirt, a waistcoat, a hat, a scarf and gloves. It is made of innovative fabric that will not allow to freeze at temperatures reaching -25 degrees C.

‘There are no little things for us today. Every event we hold in preparation for the Children of Asia is a milestone, and it is essential how team Sakhalin will be looking at the Games,’ — said Mr. Egor UMNOV, Deputy Minister for Sports, Tourism, and Youth Policy. ‘You are going to defend our island region soon, I wish you good luck.’

Biathlon, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, figure skating, short track, ice hockey, alpine skiing, and snowboard teams now have the brand-new apparel.

Another pleasant gift for the athletes were drawings and crafts made by children from the city’s children’s art school. In preparation for the Games, the Administration announced Support an Athlete Campaign. It involved children from kindergartens and children with special needs from the Regional Center for Education Quality Assessment in Sakhalin Region.

‘We’ve been creating artworks to support our team for two months already, and we tried to reflect the best moments in the drawings, they are fun and cheerful so that every visitor of sports venues would get the positive vibe,’ said Ms. Olesya KOLOSOVA, the Art School staff. ‘Thank you very much guys that you support athletes so enthusiastically.’

Dmitry BOZHOK is a hockey player. Today, the young athlete realized the huge responsibility he has taken on.

‘It was so nice to get such a valuable gift. We didn’t expect to receive so much support. But I won’t get overwhelmed, I will just play.’

All the drawings and crafts sent from different areas of the region will be showcased in Kristall and Arena City venues.
