RESULTS OF DRAWING PROCEDURE IN ICE HOCKEY COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN OF ASIA GAMES BECOME KNOWN ON SAKHALIN
The drawing procedure among the ice hockey teams of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games took place on February 6. 9 youth teams will play in the upcoming competitions.
The start of the drawing procedure was given by the Chief Referee of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games Mr. Oleg SAITOV and the Chief Ice Hockey Referee Mr.Valeriy RADA. The pupils of sports sections Mark ZAKHAROV («Kristall») and Vladimir GUSEV («Arena Master») acted as referee’s assistants. The young ice hockey players simultaneously turned the drums and took out the kegs with the names of the participating countries and groups.
Following the drawing procedure, Group A includes the teams from the Siberian Federal District and the Far Eastern Federal District, Japan, Kuwait and the Sakhalin Region.
Group B includes the Ural Federal District, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Kazakhstan.
The first ice hockey game will be held on February 9 at 10:00. The Siberians and the Urals will play on the ice of Arena City Ice Center. The Games will be held for 8 days. The winners and prize-winners are determined in the final game on February 16.
It should be reminded the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games will be held on Sakhalin from February 9 to 17. More than 1,300 athletes from 20 countries, as well as 600 judges and about 1,000 volunteers will take part in it. 91 sets of medals in 8 events will be played: cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, short track, figure skating, snowboarding, ice hockey, and ski jumping.
The Children of Asia Games opening ceremony will take place on February 9 at 6 p.m. at Spartak Stadium of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The schedule of sports events is published at the Official Website of the Children of Asia Games.
