ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE CHILDREN OF ASIA GAMES
Dear colleagues, friends, athletes!
I am genuinely glad to welcome participants and guests of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games in Sakhalin. Today, the largest and the most picturesque island of Russia is ready for the key winter sports event among children on the Asian continent. Existing sports infrastructure of Sakhalin Region allows holding winter sports competitions in compliance with the international standards. And this makes the region a unique sports location in the Far East.
Interest towards winter sports in Asia has been growing steadily; lately athletes from Asian countries have been successfully competing in figure skating, ice hockey, and alpine skiing. I am sure that among today’s participants of the Games are those who will soon be representing their countries at the most prestigious world championships.
Children of Asia Games are held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee – it is a great honor and a huge responsibility for each of us. Preserving and promoting traditions and principles of the Olympic Movement is an important agenda in the modern sports world. The Olympic Movement unites countries and continents, serving the ideals of kindness and peace.
I wish the participants of the competition to find their worthy rivals and to enjoy bright victories! To all the spectators I wish to fully experience this great sports festival. Let the Games be an outstanding and unforgettable event in life of every guest and every participant.
I wish you all good luck and further success!
President, Children of Asia Games International Committee
